2011 has been a banner year for Bo and Sara!! Wonderful travel adventures and wonderful family times in Santa Cruz! May 2012 be as good as or even better than 2011!
The last day of the year was a banner birding day for us. Another hidden gem is the Tijuana River Estuary Refuge. We saw 50 species of birds in about 3 hours. Highlights include little-blue heron, virginia rail, loggerhead shrike, and oh so many more! We also encountered a very bizarre plant that we were not able to identify.
More Next Year!
Come follow the travels of Lewis and Todo as they meander slowly from California to Florida. John and Sara are aboard and invite all our buddies to join us virtually!

Refugio State Beach to San Diego...220 miles
Refugio State beach is a hidden gem. Tucked under Highway 10, it is a little paradise of sandy beach and paradise. Bird of the day is the Herrmanns gull. We enjoyed our drive south except for the 2 hours it took to pass through the LA area. Currently in Chula Vista, just south of San Diego.

Day 2 Morro Bay ...one of our favorite places.
We enjoyed a hike with friends along the beautiful sand dunes that run for miles along the bay. Gorgeous day with plenty of sand between our toes.
